You know how it is when the odometer on your car is about to hit some really cool number, like 222,222? And you start watching it tick over at around 222,219, because you don’t want to miss it. And then you stop at Starbucks, and head for the library, and some jerk cuts you off in traffic, and then you look, and it reads 222,223.6 and damn. You missed it. It’s just a number and it doesn’t mean anything, but still.
I knew it was coming, but I got busy this week and took my eye off the Cast On odometer, and I missed it.
A million downloads. That’s something. A MILLION DOWNLOADS! I know, it’s just a number. But A MILLION DOWNLOADS!!!
You did that. Thank you. Tonia and I will be drinking Margaritas tonight in your honor.
Congratulations! I came late to the party and have spent the last month getting to know you (yup, right from the start!). I spent the last week in bed with a bad back, and have to say that listening to you on my iPod was a mixed blessing. While I was very interested in the series on the muses, between the drug-induced stupor and the warm butterscotch that is your remarkable voice, I find that I have to go back and listen all over again, as I can’t remember much of what I heard.
My husband is incredulous that there is such a thing as knitting podcasts, and I am amazed (and somewhat bored) that there are whole channels on television dedicated to sports. We are a match made in heaven.
Congratulations again, and thanks for all that you do. Since finding knitcasts in general and yours in particular, my world has gotten bigger. And woolier.
Congratulations! I know you “travel” with me on my MP3 player all over the southern U.S. TVs in motels seldom get turned on because I’m listening to Cast On.
I only discovered this podcast a few episodes ago and it is already my favorite! Thanks so much for this podcast and keep it up! π
Congratulations to you! What an amazing thing. Thank you so much for taking me on such incredible journeys. Your podcasts have been wonderful companions to me, whether I have been cooking, cleaning, gardening or, yes, knitting.
On to the second million!
Holy freaking crap woman! That’s just AMAZING!
mwuah!
Congrats! What an amazing journey for your podcast. I treasure every podcast!

Well…you can count me in for 6-8 of those tonight before I left work…
I was meaning to get the last of the previous series on my phone, and got sick this week. Needles to say the migraines were priority one. I didn’t even knit…much. So, before the end of the week was over, and the boss going to Israel for a week – which means I can come into work late Monday (HAHA), I am going to LOVE sitting on the beach this weekend catching up with you. The end of summer means..no more tourist on the beaches! HOORAY! YARN AND SAND AND WAVES! That is my fav weekend!
Thanks for everything you do, say, portray, and give us for inspiration..
Love ya-
GB
Congratulations!!!!
Chocolates and roses all round. Thanks for so many enjoyable hours of listening.
Cheers from a very cold downunder.
Knit on >^..^<
wow! congratulations and CHEERS!!
Congratulations!
Dear Brenda – Many congratulations on this wonderful milestone. Your wonderful voice has helped me stay sane the past few weeks as my companion in my knitting room as I work on my daughter’s wedding shawl. As I listenened to some older episodes this past week, your quote “Start as you plan to go on” just fit with the start of school and the plans that our school staff are already making for the school year and it has become the quote of the week on our staff bulletin. Thanks for all you do!
I love this podcast. Thanks for the time you put in. Since I’m new to podcasters, I was wondering what happened to Dave from Chubb Creek? Is there an episode that explains?
this post gives me the opportunity to say :
1) congratulations ! 1 000 000 is a milestone.
2) hello (I’m a new listener…French knitter, living in Ireland)
3) thank you ! because I love this podcast.
4) see you soon…I’ll come back !
Congratulations!!!! I’m not surprised- you have one of the best podcasts out there. I have gone back and listened from episode 1. Keep it up!!!!
Hi Brenda,
I love to hear your podcast and all of your stories. I’ve been listening for a while, albeit sporadically. But when I’m knitting, I’m listening. Congrats on the million!! One think I don’t get. When I go to itunes to download an eposode, I find you listed under…hmmm, can’t remember, maybe philosophy. Why not knitting. And when it gives your popularity its low. What’s up with that??? Youare the most listened to knitting thing around, or at least you should be! Have a good Margarita!!
Congrats. That’s such a milestone. I have enjoyed your podcasts from the beginning. Thanks for the time and effort you take to put together such a wonderful podcast. As I work from home I really enjoy your company.
Congrats! I’m not surprised at all. π Looking forward to your next podcast!
That’s so cool! I love your podcast π
A million! That number is, well it’s a big number alright! No wonder though, there is simply no one out there that does it quite like you!
You are indeed one in a million (and counting)!
congrats!
Wow Brenda!! I’m so proud of you and delighted to have you in our lives. May you have the opportunity to watch that odometer turn over many times more. π

Congratulations Brenda. I think of all the jobs you’ve held, podcasting is where you’ve found a home for all your talents. Congratulations on one million downloads. Those magaritas are well deserved.
BTW Do you have a club for Cast-On listeners who have listened to every episode of every season, TWICE? What about three times? I do have a life, but during my weekly two-hour drives to my little weekender there is only so much repeats of “Mary Had a Little Lamb” sung by my two-year-old daughter that I can handle…..Bring back the weekly podcast pleeease!
Congratulations!
I feel responsible for only 67 of all thouse downloads ;-).
Greetings from Switzerland, Katia
Congratulations!
Your podcast is one of the best around, its always interesting, its produced to very very high standards and is a gold medal winner and worldrecord holder compared to the thousans of other ‘casts around.
Here’s to the next million!!
Congrats Brenda! I can say I knew her when… since Podcast #1 I think. I know it hasn’t always been easy, but you have developed such a devoted following and have created a real service to knitters’ around the globe. Thank you for everything you do. –Jaime
Contratulations Brenda! I recently discovered knitting podcasts, and yours is by far the most excellent to listen to while knitting. My mother, a devoted listener, has been talking about you for a year and I am glad I listened. Keep on talking, and I’ll be there for the next million.
Brenda – I’m so thrilled for you. You are the Terri Gross of knitting! If everyone could hear that bit with the old men in Wales singing, I’m pretty sure you’d have a regular gig on NPR. Come to think of it, you SHOULD have a gig on NPR. It could be the car talk guys meets This American Life. So…I used to be in PR before I became a mother of twins and it turns out I just think about that stuff a lot. If you ever need someone to help extend your reach, I could totally see the NYT or CNN doing a piece on your, if they haven’t already. Your unique voice has been a solace and inspiration to me. Thanks!
Thank you Brenda, for the lovely cup of Knittellectual tea each week. I’m only on episode 13. I’ve thought of alternating between the current episode and a catch-up episode. However, I can’t do it as it would be like reading the end chapter of a mystery. So I will knit and listen more to catch-up. π
Buh? Where did yesterday’s post go? Did you have to retreat completely after the download problems on Episode 68? Am I being a pain in the neck asking all these questions? Can you forgive me for being impatient since I’m jonesing for a Cast-on fix?
You’re amazing … calming comfort for the soul … congratulations! and thank you for all your hard work : )

Congrats, Brenda!!!
well, this is just too creepy, because my car DID, in fact hit 222,222 this week, and I had been planning to watch it and, of course, got distracted and didn’t notice until it was around 222,235. Honest. Now, we’re talking miles, not km here, so please, say a little prayer for my car; I can’t afford to buy another one.
And I love, love, love you! And the podcast. And knitting and spinning…..
